Get out there: Oak Cliff music, birds, music

From our OPPORTUNITIES DEPARTMENT:

* The spring Salon Series continues Thursday, April 9 at Turner House, with Matt Tolentino and Robert Edwards performing music ranging from ragtime sounds to Tin Pan Alley and early jazz. Edwards will play the Turner House grand piano, with Tolentino on clarinet, saxophone and vocals. Time:  7:30 to 9 p.m. Place: 401 N. Rosemont. Tickets: $15 for Oak Cliff Society of Fine Arts members and students, $20 for others. Buy them at the door or right here.

* Get out to Twelve Hills Nature Center April 18 for a guided bird walk for beginners. Shannon Love, an Oak Cliff master birder, will lead the way starting at 8:30 a.m. (gather at 8:15). Free. Children are welcome, but not pets. Bring binoculars and a field guide if you have them. * See and hear Sunset High School bands and choirs perform April 30 at the Morton H. Meyerson Symphony Center, 2301 Flora St. School alumni are putting together this third-annual fund-raiser and performance event. Buy those tickets here.
